Your future mission
Melexis is actively exploring new technologies for digital health (www.melexis.com/digital-health). This internship contributes to an ongoing innovation project “Biosensing platform” where Melexis explores nanomaterial-based sensors for applications in wearables, remote patient monitoring and next-generation, fast, reliable and affordable point-of-care testing (POCT)/in-vitro diagnostics (IVD). This can be a Master's thesis or an internship.
As an intern at Melexis, your tasks will include:
The functional and electrical characterization of our newest GFET-on-CMOS sensor IC, to assess the properties and performance of the devices (variability, noise, drift) before and after chemical functionalization.
Carrying out biosensing experiments to characterize the response and limit of detection of the devices for the targeted analytes.
The integration of the CMOS die within a microfluidic system, with timed liquid delivery onto the sensor surface) and the development of a demonstrator device.
Expected results
- Comprehensive reports documenting the IC characterization, design approach, test results, and recommendations for future development
- An integrated and standalone demonstrator device of our GFET-on-CMOS IC
Requirements
Master’s degree in micro/nanotechnology, physics or related fields
Experience with conducting electrical characterization of sensors and data analysis
Hands-on experience with microfluidics, such as PDMS processes, 3D printing, adhesive bonding, etc.
First experience at the Center of MicroNanotechnology (CMI/EPFL) is a strong plus
Strong affinity for programming, such as embedded systems and data analysis (C/C++, Python)
Knowledge of biosensors is a plus
