Melexis voted most attractive employer in Randstad Regional Awards
For the third year running, Randstad Belgium, part of the second biggest supplier of HR services worldwide, will present the Randstad Regional Award to the most attractive employer. This year the award will be presented in the Limburg region. Melexis has been named as the most attractive employer in the category for companies with between 200 and 1,000 employees, followed by Bose and ZF Wind Power. For the past 26 years, from its development centre in Tessenderlo, Melexis has been producing innovative chips for the automotive sector that make vehicles greener, safer and more comfortable. Every single new car around the globe is equipped with an average of seven Melexis chips. The company is also active in the medical, industrial and consumer markets. Melexis employs over 1,000 people, 320 of whom work at its Belgian locations in Ieper and Tessenderlo.
Jan Denys, Randstad: “Clear and convincing victory for Melexis”
Based on its understanding of the market, Randstad compiled a long-list of 40 Limburg companies. It asked 1,700 respondents to name the criteria on which they would base their decision to work for a particular company, whether they were familiar with certain companies and/or would like to work for them and how these companies scored on a list of 10 criteria – ‘building blocks’ such as salary, perquisites, opportunities for career advancement, job security and other considerations.
Melexis leads the top ten most attractive employers. “This indicates a clear and convincing victory for Melexis. Not only does the company score extremely high on relative attractiveness (60%), it also comes in first for eight of the ten building blocks,” says Jan Denys, Randstad’s Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. “Walkaway victories like this are rare in the history of the Randstad Award. The only thing Melexis seems to need now is more top-of-mind awareness, since not all respondents are well enough acquainted with the company to formulate an opinion about it. That is certainly an area of potential.”
60% of respondents who know Melexis would like to work for it
Melexis achieved a very high score ¬– and first place – in the area of competitive salary and perquisites, career advancement, long-term job security, life balance, financial health, appealing job content, training and strong management. Furthermore, Melexis ranks among the top three for working conditions and environmental/social conditions. No fewer than 60% of respondents who know Melexis said they would be eager to work for it.
Françoise Chombar, CEO Melexis: “The right people in the right place”
“We are very happy that an outside party – Randstad – has identified us as the most attractive employer. In our view, our growth and the way we have realised it are key. We adhere to one important rule: we aim to put the right people in the right place. This approach ensures intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction. Our track record of years of growth combined with a high level of employee loyalty prove the success of our sustainable, innovative company culture. For us, achieving a balance between people and results is crucial.”
The Randstad Regional Award is an offshoot of the Randstad Award, which focuses on companies in the national private sector with more than 1,000 employees. The first Randstad Regional Award was awarded in 2013, when the Gent region, represented by chemical company Taminco, emerged as the winner. The Antwerp region’s Studio 100 followed in 2014. This year’s winner is the Limburg region, and the 2015 Regional Award will be presented on 30 September at C-Mine in Genk.
