Triaxis® performance position sensor IC (Analog/PWM/SENT/SPC) - MLX90377
Product description
The MLX90377 is a monolithic magnetic position sensor IC. It consists of a Triaxis® Hall magnetic front end, an analog to digital signal conditioner, a DSP for advanced signal processing and an output stage driver.
The MLX90377 is sensitive to the three components of the magnetic flux density applied to the IC (i.e. Bx, By and Bz). This allows the MLX90377 with the correct magnetic circuit to decode the absolute position of any moving magnet (e.g. rotary position from 0 to 360 Degrees or linear displacement). It enables the design of non-contacting position sensors that are frequently required for both automotive and industrial applications.
The MLX90377 provides 4 output modes. Firstly, the IC supports (fast) SENT frames encoded according to a Secure Sensor format. The output delivers enhanced serial messages providing error codes, and user-defined values. Through programming, the MLX90377 can also be configured to output Short PWM (SPC), PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) signal or an analog ratiometric signal.
The MLX90377 has been especially conceived for demanding automotive applications and to bring new functionalities:
- Multiple output modes (Analog, PWM, SENT) including SPC capability for applications requiring multi-sensor bus architecture.
- Gateway (input pin) allowing the measurement of other external signals such as those produced from pressure sensors, force sensitive resistors, or NTC temperature sensors enabling higher levels of integration and lower wire count.
- Improved Absolute Maximum Rating (AMR) such as an output reverse polarity at -18 V ,thus improving robustness to electrical over stress (EOS).
- The introduction of a new package Single-Mold-Package (SMP), a PCB-less solution. The new package is smaller than the DMP-4 with improved mechanical integration features for lower cost of quality.
The MLX90377 is compatible with the PTC-04 ( DB-HALL06) for mass-production.
Application Examples:
- Brake stroke / travel sensor
- Transmission sensor
- Acceleration pedal position sensor
- Powertrain actuator sensors (EGR, ETB)
- Ride height position sensor
- Absolute Rotary or Linear Position Sensor
- Non-Contacting Potentiometer
- Small Angle Position Sensor
- Small Stroke Position Sensor
