Your future mission

As an intern at Melexis, you will support the development and characterization of a Force&Torque sensor based on the magnetoelastic effect. In fact a magnetoelastic material material will change the orientation of its magnetization vector according to the direction and amplitude of force applied to it. The goal is to develop an integrated sensor to be used for robotic joints. This can be a Master's thesis or an internship.

More specifically, you will:

  • Review the main physical effects and develop the concept through simulations.

  • Manufacture the concept and prepare the measurement setup.

  • Perform the measurement campaign.

  • Document the measurements and achieved performances in a comprehensive report.

Expected results

  • A protype of the miniaturized sensor
  • A report with the results of the measurement campaign

Requirements

  • Affinity with electromagnetics (e.g. principles of magnetic induction). Experience with a CAD tool is a plus (E.g. PTCcreo, FreeCAD etc.)

  • Capability to acquire, organize and methodically process measurement data (Python, MATLAB), provide analysis and reports

  • At ease with the manipulation of laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, generators, 3D printer

  • Curious and motivated
